ROCKINGHAM COUNTY WINGS
April 7th Bunny Ride
Members of the Rockingham County Wings present bags of stuffed animals to Morehead Memorial Hospital’s nursing
staff April 7 as a service project to benefit local children.
EDEN—Members of the Rockingham chapter of the Gold Wings Road Riders Association—the Rockingham County Wings—delivered several bags of stuffed
animals to Morehead Memorial Hospital’s nursing staff on Saturday, April 7.

One of the chapter’s ride coordinators, Rickey Vernon, came up with the idea as a way to do something for children, and the “Bunny Ride” was born. After some
discussion, it was decided to donate the stuffed toys to Morehead.

Second Floor Nursing Supervisor Cherie Luther said the toys will help comfort children who are hospitalized.

“We really appreciate the time and effort the Rockingham County Wings put into collecting these toys for our pediatric patients,” she said. “Being in the hospital
can be a scary time for children, and having a stuffed animal can help alleviate some of their anxiety.”

Chapter directors of the Rockingham County Wings are Darrell and Kay Hopper. Additional information about the chapter is available at www.gwrrancw.org.

“Our primary purpose is to help people,” said chapter educator Molly Byrd.

The group’s next rally is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, to benefit Hospice of Rockingham County
